Crocheting a real garment...

I just finished a new top, and I have agonized over naming this one for a long time. I have been told "The Green Lantern" or "Shrek". In Romanian, we would call this caller "brotac" (I don't know why), which loosely translates to "green frog". I don't have many pictures, but I have a few, including construction. This is me, wearing it, in sunny California last week: It is a Doris Chan design, from the book Everyday Crochet . This is the Sweet Tea top . The only change I made was to crochet fewer rows on the neck finishing. If you look at my top and you look at the picture in the book you'll see mine is a bit higher in the neckline - and that's with crocheting an extra few foundation stitches while making the straps. The yarn I used was Lang Golf in color 163.0093, one of three types of green, and I used a 4.5mm hook (7US - no idea why it doesn't have a letter), except for the edgings where I used a 4mm hook (G/6 US).

Afternoon Blouse

The first thing I made when I created my new sewing space was an afternoon blouse . You see it here after I wore it for a whole day so it's pretty wrinkled. :-( This pattern really is an afternoon blouse, it took me roughly 4 hours to make, complete with assembling the pattern (over two days though). I did somewhat cheat by pinking the seams instead of doing something else to finish them, which saved some time. The fabric is a cotton lawn I think - bought from Sew Over It in London. I didn't make any alterations this time around, but I think I will next time - for one, the bib issue is back, which makes me believe I have a short torso. You can see the marks after wearing it in this pic: The V-neck is also a bit gaping in this version, but I managed to fix it by creatively arranging the overlapping sides :-) Now it looks OK but it's not perfect. On the bright side, I don't seem to need an FBA in this blouse (no fabric moving up above the bust area), and I

I finally have my sewing room back

And I am sewing.. CURTAINS!
